Health management: Am I sitting correctly?

The Techniker Krankenkasse made a nice offer to our "desk workers": ergonomic advice was given directly at the workplace by an experienced specialist. A photo was taken and the axes of the sitting position were marked in color. Each participant received a printout immediately. This photo analysis, including the measurement parameters such as the angle of the head, elbow, torso and knee joint, provided very personal advice on potential for improvement. Tips for practical exercises and changes to the equipment in the workplace were included.

Down to the wire with Kerfa

This year, too, the 80th Heat Treatment Congress offered plenty of opportunity for exchange. The Kerfa team was able to have fruitful discussions, gain new customers and plan new projects with existing customers.
Around 100 visitors to the event discovered the playful child in themselves and had to prove a steady hand on the "hot wire". Every contact with the wire was "punished" with 5 seconds added to the total time. We therefore congratulate the three winners all the more on their excellent times!

We recently gave our colleague Thorben Reese a small present: one of his ideas happened to be the 3,500th on our long list! We all see the "continuous improvement process" as an opportunity to constantly improve. Quality, costs, speed, employee satisfaction... Everything is important, is discussed weekly in the CIP meeting and also offers the chance to win great cash or non-cash prizes in our annual CIP raffle. Thank you to all employees who take part!
Get a job in 10 minutes: Successful speed dating

At the job speed dating event in Witten, the EN job center and the Hagen employment agency brought job seekers together with companies. Around 20 employers were looking for staff, from unskilled jobs to degree-level jobs. Kerfa was there!
The workshop in Witten served as the location for the job speed dating. A gong sounds every ten minutes, then the candidates change tables. The appointments were planned in advance, but there was also room for spontaneous conversations.

Back health day at Kerfa

The spine is exposed to stress every day. If these are too high or too one-sided, posture will be impaired in the long term and premature wear of the spine will result in corresponding back problems. This can occur both in office work and in production.
With the support of the Techniker Krankenkasse, we were able to offer our employees a spinal screening, in which the spinal relief was scanned with a roll sensor.
Our team also received a back training course from a trained sports therapist that focused on proper lifting. A lot of valuable information was provided.
The day was crowned with a TK competition: Mr. Xhafa, Ms. Nehrenheim and
Mr. Reese are happy about their nice prizes. Congratulations!

We spent some lovely hours together at our annual “Start of the Year” celebration. Attraction of the evening: The annual CIP raffle! “Continuous improvement process” is written in BIG at Kerfa. The 40 biggest prizes have already been raffled off. The remaining 380 prizes will be distributed in the next few days :-) Every idea that was included in our CIP system last year will have the chance to win a great prize - or at least a "consolation prize". CIP is worth it!

On this bright May Thursday, some of our colleagues are happy to be able to take their forklift license exam. In addition to practical exercises, this in-house training also includes a theoretical part and then it's time to get on the forklift!
Clothespin craft fun

In our CIP system (continuous improvement process), our employees are always coming up with new ideas to improve processes. The CIP team then decides whether the idea will be implemented.
Some time ago there was an idea for the production process, which needed a lot of wooden clothespins to realize it. Over time, however, it turned out that another idea worked even better - so the brackets were no longer necessary.
So now we needed another CIP idea for the sensible use of the pegs... The idea quickly arose that you could do great crafts with wooden clothes pegs! Since tinkering is not necessarily our core competence, we immediately thought of real handicraft professionals: The Baumhaus kindergarten in our neighborhood is now looking forward to creative handicraft hours with these clips - we wish you a lot of fun!

Being late for a good cause

Our eight-person CIP team meets once a week to discuss and weigh up ideas from the workforce on the "continuous improvement process". CIP is an ideas management system that is used very actively by our employees. Everyone can and should contribute so that we can all continuously improve our quality.
The Thursday meeting was always supposed to start at 11 a.m., but initially there was a problem with punctuality... A solution was quickly found: anyone who comes too late has to pay two euros into the fine! In the course of time, at least a sum of 100 euros has accumulated...
Today we are only too happy to donate this money to the "Soup Kitchen Hagen e.V." to support this valuable local work.
So it still has its advantages when our discipline sometimes leaves something to be desired... Enjoy your meal!

The trade fair days in Cologne are now behind us. There were countless technical discussions with old and new acquaintances. There were talks about the challenges of our time, in particular advice on converting from gas-fired furnaces to electrically heated furnaces and last but not least there was a Scrabble competition with the question which well-known company could do this conversion...? We would like to thank all participants for their "play instinct" and congratulate the three winners of the attractive prizes. We have already informed them personally.

The world is so small!

This afternoon, our office once again showed how small the world really is! A map of Europe and even a map of the world hang in one of our corridors so that our colleagues can mark their place of origin with a little flag with their initials. It is intended to symbolize how beautifully the interplay of the most diverse cultures can succeed in a company. We currently have employees with roots from 14 different countries of origin and work together very harmoniously!
Today our colleague Can Kunduz (working student IT) wanted to mark the place in Turkey where his father came from with a flag - and had to find out that there was already a flag there! The family on the mother's side of our colleague Zehra Ucar and her brother Kemal (both administration) also come from Adapazarı in the Turkish province of Sakarya. As said: The world is a village :-)

The HeatTreatmentCongress 2019 in Cologne is already behind us. The exhibition team has again given everything to reach as many trade fair visitors as possible: Information about our products such as the repair of cage elements or energy saving with our special processes were of course in the foreground.
But we also had time to play: About 150 brave dared to play the "hot wire" and hoped not to get an electric shock with a touch of the wire ... Retrospective: Kerfa® at the THERMPROCESS in Düsseldorf

Kerfa® was once again enthusiastically represented at the 12th Thermprocess in Düsseldorf this year. From Juni 25 to 29 2019, more than 78,000 visitors and more than 2,200 exhibitors gathered at "GMTN - The Bright World of Metals".
Kerfa® has barely missed a chance with its enthusiastic team to actively approach customers and potential customers. For example, countless discussions have highlighted the benefits of optimizing insulation with Kerfa® SAVAC® Insulation Systems, and many have been excited about the potential energy savings. The repair of heating plugs was again an issue, because it can also reduce costs.

Once again this year, we invited our visitors to take advantage of their chance of making attractive prizes in our guessing game. "How many meandering hooks are in this jar?" The solution was 173! 95 visitors have played with us. Two lucky ones guessed the winning number exactly, three teammates have just misjudged a hook - respect! So we had to determine by draw and gave two extra prices. We are particularly pleased that Mr. S. from Aachen, who won the 2nd prize last year, has once again tried his luck and this time wins a 4th prize! Kerfa® attended the 74. Heat Treatment Congress from 16. to 18. October 2018 in Cologne.
The congress is the most important event in this field attracting international attendance.
Kerfa appeared with its own booth presenting its vast scope of supply.
This year, we once again had interesting discussions with many customers about the insulation optimization with
Kerfa® SAVAC® insulation systems and enthused many about the potential energy savings.
In addition we presented the possibility of repairing cage elements leading to substantial savings for customers.

Kerfa Sales Meeting 2018
13 September 2018
On September 12th and 13th 2018, an international sales meeting was held at Kerfa® in Hagen. Parallel to the presentation of new products and different applications a detailed exchange of experience among the technicians and representatives took place. The heads of the sister divisions Axel Tiede (security systems, www.axel-tiede.de) and Elogic (filter systems, www.elogic.de) informed about the latest developments. Afterwards the planned workshops could take place in the garden of the house due to the nice weather. Thus, new and innovative ideas were generated in a creative atmosphere. A dinner completed the successful event.

The congress is the most important event in this field attracting international attendance.
Kerfa® appeared with its own booth presenting its vast scope of supply.
Main focus this year was the presentation of possibilities for optimising the insulation of especially fire brick insulated furmaces with Kerfa® SAVAC® insulating systems. Based on that idea interesting conversations could be made with many customers about the potential of energy savings.

Kerfa® Classic Car Rally Team

The Kerfa® - Rally - Team successfully started the 2014 season attending the highly acclaimed 11th ADAC / VBA Classic Rally. On April 26, 2014 60 classic cars started. The route went from Berlin eastward to Cedynia in Poland. After a short refill break for drivers and cars one headed back towards Berlin. After 220 km and seven challenging stages 59 teams saw the checkered flag. Our Kerfa® - Rally - Team Roland Wiemann / Peter Katsarski were driving their Alfa Romeo Giulietta Spider in the "Class Post War 1945-1960" and could achieve first place. Congratulations!

As part of the change of ownership in November 2011, the management set itself ambitious goals for the coming years and is directing its activities towards a clearly intensified focus on customer orientation.
For this reason we are very pleased to have been able to attain the services of Mr. Dirk Göckener as of July 1, 2012, for the newly created position of Sales Manager.
The 37-year-old with a Master's degree in engineering has many years of experience in the field of heating technology.

Enhancement of the brand name

Kerfa GmbH has further enhanced its brand name by freshening up its marketing presentation. From now on, the newly designed word mark will consistently appear in conjunction with the ® (= “Registered”) symbol and the Kerfa logo on all documents and promotion articles. The objective is to emphasize the significance of the company name as an important part of corporate strategy. A slogan has also been created. “Always hot” will now be used in external communication, together with “Made in Germany – used worldwide”. The aim is to express the company’s diversity and internationality. The company’s associates were involved in the whole process. Subsequently, a raffle was held among all participants to say thank-you.

With this letter I would like to thank you for the good and faithful co-operation during the last 30 years. Moreover, I would like to inform you that I sold my company and I will no longer work as its general manager.
The new owner of KERFA GmbH is the company Elogic situated in Schwelm, which is represented by Mr. Konrad Meyr, its general manager.
In addition, Mr. Meyr takes over the management of KERFA GmbH.
